From [info]yahtzee63: Every now and then the police arrest somebody suspected of some terrible, violent crime, and as a piece of public relations they'll announce all of the horrible books, movies and/or CDs they found in the suspect's house, as if to prove that the suspect is obviously guilty and horrible and monstrous.

So here is my challenge to you. You can either do this from memory or take a moment to look through your book and music collections, and then answer this question:

Name ten books, CDs and/or movies that you own that the police would cite as evidence against you at their press conference.

1) American Psycho, by Bret Easton Ellis
2) Pretty Dead Girl OST
3) Mein Kamph- Adolph Hitler
4) The Communist Manifesto
5) Criminal Psychology by Hans Gross
6) Dexter, Season 1
7) Darkly Dreaming of Dexter, by Jeff Lindsay
8) Assassins OBC
9) The Satanic Bible
10) Watchmen, by Alan Moore

The only one of these that I have legitimately freaked myself out with is "The Satanic Bible". I downloaded it as a .pdf because I was curious, and have yet to read a single word. A lot of these are pretty harmless, IMO. Pretty Dead Girl, especially, is clearly humorous and light, but... well, it deals cheerfully with necrophilia and attempted suicide, so....

Notes. A present for [info]miss_beehive, who originally got me hooked on The West Wing. I tried to choose songs with a more upbeat (though not outright happy or peppy) tone, although some of the lyrics verge on melancholy.

Artists include The Smiths, R.E.M., Paul McCartney, and They Might Be Giants. Click on the music notes to download individual songs, and please let me know if there are any problems, or if you'd like me to reupload something.

Title: Season of Scars [EP]
Warning: Spoilers for the musical.

A mix for Roger, in all his introverted, hopeful, damaged glory. A large focus on Roger/April and especially Roger/Mimi, because I think a huge part of Roger's character is how romantic and idealistic he is, and how he almost seems to need romantic love to function. In the musical, we learn about Roger's character through the way he interacts with Mimi.

Download the individual mp3s (available for preview at box.net), or grab the zip. Includes songs by Sunset Rubdown, Rufus Wainwright, and Frightened Rabbit. Let me know if you need me to reupload something.

Title: Blood-Red Sunrise
Warnings: Some possibly disturbing content in the song lyrics.
Notes: This mix was done for [info]mixingmusic, Round 5. The theme was "fresh starts", and the prompt was:
It's a brand new day, and the sun is high. All the birds are singin' that you're gonna die. How I hesitated! - Now I wonder why. It's a brand new day. -Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

For this prompt, I tried to pick songs that weren't just about vengeance, but gleeful vengeance. The songs are in a vaguely chronological order, so the ones near the beginning are more tentative, self-loathing ("how I hesitated!"), while the ones near the end are victorious, for lack of a better word ("Now I wonder why. It's a brand new day").

Spoilers:: For the first two movies
Notes: I... yeah. I have no explanation for this. 15 songs (mp3s, box.net), including Cobra Starship, Cyndi Lauper, the Spring Awakening OBC, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Ms. Evans tells Ryan that 'losing my religion' is an old Southern phrase meaning to be at the end of your rope, or to lose your temper. Sharpay, who tends to take things too literally, insists that it's just losing your faith. When Ryan listens to the R.E.M song, however, he can't help but believe that it simply means falling in love. Sometimes, when it comes to Sharpay, he can't help but think that all three definitions apply.

Okay... this is truly a month to fuel my obsessions and send me into a glee-spiral.

First, I started two new obsessions: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and How I Met Your Mother. The first is pure awesomeness, and possibly the first Joss Wheadon project I've seen all of. It's definitely the first Joss Wheadon thing I've legitimately liked. Darkly hilarious, and there's music! No. Bad. Side. But the best part wasn't the writing, or the ear-wormy songs. The best part is Neil Patrick Harris, who is both adorkable and sexy. My instant love for him sent me on a search for everything he's been in (Turns out I already have a video bootleg of him in RENT. (See? Epic. Month. Of. Obsessions.) And, of course, saw him in the Harold and Kumar movies.) And then I found the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. I'd heard of it before, but dismissed it as a laugh track comedy on the level of 2.5 Men. Now I can sort of see what all the fuss was about. It is an insanely addictive comedy, with the time-shifts and quirkiness of the British show Coupling, and the nostalgia of Friends. Plus, Freaks and Geeks throwback with Jason Segal, who would be the funniest actor on the show were it not for the aforementioned NPH.

But then, as if that weren't enough, I finally got to go to England. I've been longing to travel there since first reading The Chronicles of Narnia, which was when I was...what, five?! It was seriously amazing; I got ridiculous, touristy crap (okay, shut up. EVERYONE HAS USE FOR PENCIL SHARPENERS IN THE SHAPE OF LONDON POST BOXES!) and fueled my Doctor Who/David Tennant/Shakespeare obsessions by seeing David Tennant in Hamlet. There will probably be a detailed post about this in a couple of days, but suffice to day- he was brilliant, it was brilliant, I am dead from the squee.

So....today, I have been home for a day, and am jonesing for a Twilight hit. I still haven't read Breaking Dawn. So, despite the fact that I am completely broke from the vacation, I go to the bookstore and buy Breaking Dawn, the issue of Esquire with Stephen Colbert on the cover, and the issue of Out! with Neil Patrick Harris on the cover.

Send help, you guys. I am seriously not in my right mind at the moment. I don't think there will be a bigger geekgasm until September/October, when I go and see The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

You know what? I think I'll be fine. I have the feeling that Breaking Dawn will kill my buzz.

Edward Norton is so amazing, you guys. He is such a chameleon of an actor, and he is just off-the-charts attractive in The Illusionist.

I honestly cannot stress the "chameleon" thing enough. I seriously went to the movies last night and sat through a 5+ minute trailer for The Incredible Hulk going, 'Wait...I know this guy. I KNOW this guy. Why does he remind me of someone's coked-out brother, and yet I kind of want to have sex with him?' I actually said to my friend, "Remind me to IMDB this movie later." She did remind me, and I felt incredibly stupid when I saw it was my beloved Edward Norton.

In case anyone cares, the movie I saw was "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and it was amazing. I'm totally reminded of that Colbert Report interview with Judd Apatow when "Superbad" was coming out, and he said his goal was to show penis in a movie. Well, he succeeded. Congrats.
